Climate Action Week Sydney: Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards Keynote

Hub leader Professor Veena Sahajwalla AO will deliver the keynote speech at an event for Climate Action Week Sydney, highlighting how waste innovation can drive meaningful climate action.

Presenting at an Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards session, Prof Veena will explore how treating waste as a resource rather than a burden can:

  • reduce emissions
  • strengthen domestic manufacturing
  • accelerate Australia’s transition to a circular economy.

Drawing on leading research and industry collaboration, she will share practical examples. Some of these solutions are explored in the Hub's Fit for Purpose Technological Recycling Solutions project, which is supporting the transformation of difficult-to-recycle materials into valuable new products. These innovations demonstrate how advanced recycling and remanufacturing can directly support decarbonisation while creating economic opportunity.

Climate Action Week Sydney brings together researchers, industry, government and community leaders to share solutions and strengthen collaboration on climate resilience and emissions reduction.

Join the event and learn how evidence-based innovation in waste and resource recovery can inform policy, reporting and real-world climate action.
