RACI 2022 National Congress

On 8 July 2022, Hub Leader Prof Veena will join a plenary panel discussion on "building a resilient planet" at the RACI 2022 National Congress.

The annual congress of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, the professional body for the chemical sciences in Australia, brings together leading scientists and business people over an action packed week to learn about the latest research developments for a better future.

RACI says "as part of the congress close on Friday 8 July, at 3.20pm, we are excited to host a panel discussion, Building a resilient planet.  Facilitated by Dr Ruben Meerman, known to many as ABC’s Surfing Scientist, an expert panel will provide insight into what is needed to build a resilient planet and how chemistry is catalysing solutions to this global challenge."

Veena says: "We can start a new ‘green materials’ revolution using waste as a resource of raw materials, and bolster our efforts to be more sustainable and create new jobs though innovation. We need to align our waste, recycling and manufacturing challenges to help build a stronger and more sustainable future."

"RACI is the national professional body for chemists in industry, academia and government and is the primary voice of chemistry in Australia. It advocates the importance of chemistry to the public, all levels of education, industry and government and promotes the critical role of chemistry in tackling global challenges.

"Every four or five years the RACI brings together chemistry professionals from across all its divisions, academia, industry and government to showcase the latest breakthroughs in our discipline, explore new opportunities for collaboration and to network with preeminent members of the international chemistry community.

"The theme for the 2022 National Congress is “Chemistry: Catalysing solutions to global challenges”. As this indicates, we have engaged members from all fields of chemistry in efforts to formulate genuine and sustainable solutions to our biggest global challenges including alternative energy sources, climate change, food security and antibiotic resistance through presentations and discussions. We are sure that it will be an intellectually exciting and enjoyable event for all. On behalf of the organising committee I would like to welcome you to Brisbane and the congress and hope that you enjoy your week."
